I love helicopter tours..... I’m going to introduce one of available courses on Maui, Hana & Haleakala.

Conclusion first, it wasn’t as fantastic as I expected. I thought this course would be significant with various sceneries. It was true indeed, but it wasn’t as exciting as West Maui. The reason is, we can go inside of many mountains in West Maui, but we fly over one big Haleakala in this side. So I didn’t feel like seeing anything closely, which is the fun thing about helicopter tours.

However, this is only “contrastingly” speaking. I don’t mean to say this is totally boring. Actually it was fun and wonderful. Maybe I expected too much.

Soon after we took off, we saw wide sugarcane field. Since they harvest in different timing, we could see three different colors on the ground. Green for young sugarcane, yellow-green for almost ready for harvest and brown for after harvest. This kind of sight is unique.

The faces of Haleakala. The left is in dry area, the right is in rain forrest area. It’s interesting to see the difference. And yes, we can enjoy these bird-eye views because of helicopters. So again, it was exciting. haha

The crater on the summit of Haleakala. Ok, this is something I rather driving up to see than flying. I’m not sure if there is restriction but the helicopter didn’t fly right above the crater (I do think it’s good idea though... to avoid any damage by emergency landing etc.) so I felt like looking at the highlight of this flight from far away. It was still beautiful but honestly it was frustrating.
